    Part 6 — Chapter 15: Trying Again

Quick solution: 3 groups of wall switches, confirmed by green status lights

Reward: Auxiliary lines restored; return to the Remote Systems console sequence

How do I reach the AUX Room?

The AUX Room is part of the SWDP – Different building in Part 6. It is the middle detour in the Remote Systems console sequence, after Valve B and Filter A but before Aux Line B:

    1. The CCTV objective points you toward auxiliary systems.
    2. Find the locker to the right of the Remote Systems Control console and enter 0825 (from the management info shown during the CCTV sequence).
    3. Take the AUX Key from inside, then ride the elevator to Level 1.
    4. Use the key to enter the AUX Room.

How do I load the Auxiliary Lines document?

Inside the AUX Room, grab the AUX Disk from the cabinet and insert it into the computer in the same room — it displays the Auxiliary Lines diagram you are about to reproduce. (The diagram draws up switches as a vertical line and down switches as a horizontal line.)

How do I read the line markings?

Each switch has a white paint stripe beside it identifying which line it belongs to:

    • One stripe = Line 1
    • Two stripes = Line 2
    • Three stripes = Line 3

Face the pipes and follow their arrows

Stand facing the pipework and identify the white stripe count before touching a switch. Follow the painted arrow along that pipe as it wraps around the room. The starting sides below refer to facing the pipework; turning your camera around changes what appears on your screen’s left.

AUX direction card: Lines 1 and 2 start by the right-side cabinet and run right to left; Line 3 starts by the left-side door and runs left to right. Numbered vertical and horizontal switch states match the lists below.

Each diagram number means the next switch on that marked line, not the next handle you see on the wall. Pipes cross and change height: keep tracing the same stripe group. Here Up means a vertical handle and Down a horizontal handle, matching the symbols on the computer document.

What are the switch settings for each line?

Work through the lines in order. Each list below reads the switches in the direction you walk, starting from that line’s first switch:

Line 1 — one stripe (9 switches): start at the right side of the room, by the cabinet, and work right → left along the lower pipes:

Up, Down, Up, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Up

Line 2 — two stripes (9 switches): start again from the right side, working right → left along the middle pipes:

Up, Down, Down, Down, Up, Down, Down, Up, Up

Line 3 — three stripes (8 switches): start at the left side of the room, by the door, and work left → right across the upper and middle pipes:

Down, Up, Up, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up

How do I confirm the lines are correct?

Each line group has a status light. When all switches in a group are set correctly, the corresponding status light turns green. If a light stays off, one or more switches in that group are wrong — check each switch’s direction against the pattern.

If a status light stays off

    1. Recheck the stripe count: do not borrow a handle from another line.
    2. Return to that line’s start and follow the painted arrow. Reading the sequence backwards can leave a plausible-looking but incorrect pattern.
    3. Compare the final handle positions, not the number of times you interacted. Set each to the listed state and check that line’s green light.
    4. Finish all three groups before returning to the control room.

Compare the document and pipe markings on video

IGN’s footage shows the computer patterns at 2:49, a painted pipe arrow and stripes at 2:59, and wall handles at 3:19. These timestamps are visual checkpoints reviewed by this site, not a claim of personal playtesting.

    What comes next?

The Clamp Release procedure is not the very next action — there are control-room tasks between the two puzzles:

    1. Return to the Remote Systems Control room. Enter Flush Aux Line B using document ID 246, then Stop the Regulator (cam 002; see the 178/781 input disagreement), and Unlock the Valve F door using cam 004 ID 592.
    2. Go through the unlocked door to the lower-floor valve room and turn Valve F — this is the trigger for the procedure you need next.
    3. Go back upstairs: the control room printer now outputs the Clamp Release Procedure document.
    4. Follow it on the panel opposite the console — that is the Clamp Release puzzle.

For the first two camera entries and each symbol-button pair, return to the complete Remote Systems guide. Its Regulator input disagreement is still unresolved; read the objective and the in-game camera before retrying either reported value.
