How to Save in SILENT HILL: Townfall — Dial 100 & Autosaves
Dial 100 at a phone booth or use a marked indoor phone to save in SILENT HILL: Townfall. Learn how autosaves and Reject The Help differ.
Next: Collection run: save before transitions. Reject The Help run: back out of the initial save prompt and avoid manual phone saves.
Planning Reject The Help? Back out of the initial save prompt and avoid manual phone saves during that challenge run. The frequent-save advice below is for ordinary story and collection runs. Read the no-manual-save challenge before starting.
How do you save the game?
For a manual save, use one of the town’s phones:
- Phone booths — step into a booth and dial 100. The flyer inside the first Town Square booth lists it as “Save Yourself” next to the other service numbers (900 for emergencies, 010 for the operator).
- Marked in-world phones — certain interiors hold a phone that works as a manual save point. The phone inside the clinic reception is the first one most players meet.
| Action | Type of save | Reject The Help run? |
|---|---|---|
| Dial 100 in a phone booth | Manual | Avoid |
| Use a marked indoor save phone | Manual | Avoid |
| Continue until the game autosaves | Automatic checkpoint | Still happens during the challenge |
If dialing 100 does not open the save screen, first check that you are interacting with a phone booth, not a story phone or one of the other service numbers. The first booth’s flyer in Town Square gives the 100 clue; the Arrival route places it in context. We have not verified that every phone in St. Amelia accepts the same command.
Looking for the PC save files?
Use the Windows / Steam save-folder guide for the file path, a separate backup and Steam Cloud conflicts. Phone saves are in-game checkpoints; a folder backup preserves files you already have.
What about autosaves?
PowerPyx’s trophy roadmap reports that the game also autosaves as you make progress. These checkpoints are separate from dialing 100 and continue during Reject The Help. A death can still cost progress since the previous checkpoint; this page does not promise an autosave at every doorway.
Does autosaving invalidate Reject The Help? No. The trophy’s restriction is on the manual save action. For the initial prompt and the exact challenge route, use the dedicated trophy guide.
Where should you save?
Chapters do not replay on their own, and Arrival in particular is full of one-time pickups that cannot be revisited without loading an earlier save. Two habits cover almost every missable:
- Save at every booth you pass — they are free and instant.
- Save before chapter-end transitions, because leaving an area locks its collectibles behind you.
Do saves matter for New Game Plus?
Yes. A New Game Plus run is the only way to reach two of the game’s endings, and banking manual saves during that run is how you collect more than one result from a single pass — the New Game Plus guide walks through the plan. The numbers you dial along the way are mostly service numbers; the full list of reachable numbers is in the phone numbers checklist.
