How Long Is SILENT HILL: Townfall? Story & Platinum Time
Plan 12–15 hours for a rushed story run or 15–20 hours for a thorough first playthrough; compare those reviewer estimates with an optimized platinum route.
How long is SILENT HILL: Townfall?
Allow around 15–20 hours for a thorough first playthrough, based on GamesRadar reviewer Leon Hurley’s estimate after his own 18-hour run. A guided platinum route measures a different goal; it is not extra time to add automatically to your first playthrough. Every number below keeps its source:
| Goal | Time | Whose number |
|---|---|---|
| Thorough first playthrough | 18 hours actual; 15–20 hours typical estimate | GamesRadar reviewer Leon Hurley |
| Focused story run | 12–15 hours | GamesRadar reviewer estimate, not a timed run |
| Optimized platinum route | 15–25 hours | PowerPyx roadmap author estimate, including planned replays |
| A single full run, rushed | under 2 hours possible | PowerPyx roadmap author |
These estimates measure different routes. The 15–25-hour platinum plan starts from a guided first run and uses manual saves and NG+ efficiently; it is not another 15–25 hours to add after your own blind first run. GamesRadar also projects 60+ hours as possible for a slower approach to seeing every ending. That is not a measured total or a second measurement of the optimized platinum route.
Choose a plan for your available time
| Your goal | Plan before playing | Open next |
|---|---|---|
| Finish the story for the first time | Use the 15–20-hour estimate; leave room for exploration and retries | Chapter walkthroughs |
| Finish with collectibles | Check the current area’s missables before moving on; make phone saves on an ordinary run | Collection checkpoints |
| Work toward platinum | Separate collection and ending reloads from a no-manual-save challenge | Trophy route and conflicts |
| Attempt the four-hour challenge | Learn the route first and check which menus stop the timer | Speedrun preparation |
A session does not need to fit an entire chapter: check the phone-saving rules before stopping. Keep the no-manual-save challenge for a run planned around its restriction.
What can make your run longer?
Searching for medicine, solving unfamiliar controls and finding a missed collectible all add detours. Use the hospital route, Remote Systems sequence or the relevant checklist when a particular task is holding you up. Choosing hints is a preference; none of these estimates establishes an exact time saving from changing them.
There is no measured per-chapter timetable on this site. A slower first run is compatible with exploring thoroughly, and a guide author’s repeat run should not be used as a deadline for a new player.
What does a normal first playthrough look like?
GamesRadar’s reviewer — Leon Hurley, the site’s guides editor — finished his first run in 18 hours and suggests players who focus on progression may take 12–15 hours, with 15–20 hours the likely band for a thorough first pass. That was a review run — exploring, reading, collecting as they went — not a speedrun and not a checklist run.
How long does completion take?
For the platinum/all-achievements path, the roadmap author estimates 15-25 hours total: a ~8-hour main pass collecting carefully, ~3 hours of cleanup, ~2 hours for the ending runs, and an optional ~2-hour fourth step. That estimate assumes you know the missables — if you are playing blind, fold the save discipline into run one so cleanup stays small. GamesRadar says seeing all five endings could run to 60+ hours for a less optimized approach; it is a projection, not a timed record, and should not be added to the PowerPyx estimate (how the endings split across runs).
Does difficulty change the clock?
No trophy or achievement is difficulty-gated — the roadmap author notes everything can be done on Story difficulty with hinted puzzles, which keeps a completion run from ballooning. The one time-pressure milestone is the sub-4-hour trophy: both sources agree it exists and both call it New Game Plus territory, with a full run possible in under 2 hours once you know the route.
What this page does and doesn’t claim
Every number above is attributed to its source — a firsthand review run and that reviewer’s projections on one side, a guide author’s optimized route estimate on the other. This site does not publish its own playtime or quote unverified aggregated vote sites. For what to do with those hours, start at the walkthrough hub — the trophy hub lists what completion adds on top.
