    What does the CRTV do?

The CRTV is a pocket television that replaces the series’ iconic radio. Officially, you hold it in one hand to tune into unstable analog signals, scout roaming monsters, and search for clues to puzzles as you explore the island. In practice you will use it for three things:

    1. Story signals — stored channels play short clips that add story context or foreshadow what is coming (these clips are extra lore — none are required to finish the story).
    2. Threat and clue scouting — signal static and distortion react to what is nearby, pointing you toward interactables and danger.
    3. Tuning puzzles — some doors and devices require you to align an unstable channel first (the pharmacy locker clue in Part 1 is the most common example).

Officially confirmed by PlayStation’s game page and the creators’ PS5 features breakdown.

How do I tune and store a channel?

Officially, the CRTV is fine-tuned with the controller’s motion controls, and this can be adjusted or turned off in the game’s menu options. The step-by-step below follows our walkthrough reference (PowerPyx):

    • Turn the dial until the tracking dot sits inside its box, then press the confirm button (X on PlayStation) to store the channel. Stored channels stay available on that device.

How do the tilt and color puzzles work?

Puzzle-grade channels are unstable in two stages (per the same walkthrough reference):

    1. Tilt — rotate with the right stick until the moving colors stop drifting.
    2. Colors — use the D-pad to fit each color into its matching box.

If motion controls feel imprecise, the PS5 menu lets you adjust or disable the CRTV motion sensor controls — confirmed in the creators’ PS5 features breakdown.

    How many signals are there?

Our walkthrough reference counts 18 CRTV signals across Parts 1-6, from the Shorefront hotel in Part 1 to the SWDP building at the end, and reports that progress carries between playthroughs with a “Sweeping Signals” trophy/achievement for viewing them all. Treat the exact count as walkthrough-reported until we can double-source it; no signal is required to finish the story.

    Troubleshooting

    • The picture never stabilizes — you are between channel numbers; move slowly and watch for the tracking dot entering its box.
    • A puzzle channel will not align — make sure the CRTV is raised and facing the source; alignment only registers when the device is oriented at the signal.
    • Looking for a specific channel’s location? The part-by-part signal checklist is being verified and will publish on the collectibles hub.
