SILENT HILL: Townfall Sci-fi Ending Guide
Sci-fi is NG+ only: three Strange Books, the 12-press hotel symbol door, the Strange Access Card and a keypad swipe that skips the final boss.

Answer: Book 1 → hotel 12-symbol door → Access Card → Book 2 → Book 3 → card reader after clamps → ending (skips final boss)
Requirements
- A New Game Plus run — none of the items exist on a first playthrough
- Strange Book #1 — Part 1, Zoe's house bedroom, left side of the bed (examine before leaving the area); titled "History of Space Flight, 1952-1992"
- Hotel symbol door — Part 2 (Zoe, Ch. 6): after collecting Richard's Gift, enter Shorefront – Different and go upstairs to the 25-button door; wrong input wipes the sequence, restartable immediately
- Strange Access Card — beside that hotel door (corner by the elephant statue); inert until Part 6
- Strange Book #2 — Part 4, Stenhouse End of Life Hospice Care store (Atlas Square SW, opposite the phone booth), left shelf: "Freeze Me / Wake Me – Elias Fisher"
- Strange Book #3 — Part 6, room 621, table beside the Resource Container across from Valve F: "A Map of Nowhere Else"
- Trigger — after the clamp release and the red valve wheel, at the card reader on the left wall by the last sealed door past the forced shutter
- Skips the final boss entirely — the Sci-fi-lent Hill trophy (Silver) is the reward, and the Pistol-3000 unlock is banked

Spoiler notice: everything below reveals the Sci-fi route step by step. The endings hub keeps the spoiler-safe comparison first.
How the Sci-fi ending works
Sci-fi is one of the two New Game Plus-only endings. Across an NG+ run you collect three Strange Books, press a 12-symbol sequence into the hotel door in Part 2, and bank the Strange Access Card it gives you — then, deep in Part 6, you swipe that card to trigger the ending before the final boss.
Step 1 — the NG+ requirement
None of the three books, nor the Access Card, exist on a first playthrough. Start a New Game Plus run.
Step 2 — Strange Book #1
Part 1, Zoe’s house bedroom — on the bed’s left side. Its on-screen title is “History of Space Flight, 1952–1992”. Examine it before leaving the area — the house does not reopen later in the run.
Step 3 — the hotel symbol door (12 presses)
Part 2 (Zoe, Chapter 6): after collecting Richard’s Gift, enter Shorefront – Different (it turns red) and go upstairs to the door with the 25-button symbol grid.
Press the twelve buttons in this order — symbol first, grid position second (columns counted left→right, rows top→bottom). This is the AllThings. How sequence; its symbols match PowerPyx’s endings guide one-for-one in order, which is the cross-check this page is built on:
| Press | Symbol | Grid position |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bird | Column 1, Row 5 |
| 2 | Tree | Column 2, Row 4 |
| 3 | Planet | Column 4, Row 2 |
| 4 | Bird | Column 1, Row 5 (same button as press 1) |
| 5 | Trinity | Column 2, Row 3 |
| 6 | Satellite | Column 4, Row 5 |
| 7 | Satellite | Column 4, Row 5 (same button as press 6) |
| 8 | Fish | Column 5, Row 1 |
| 9 | Rocket | Column 3, Row 1 |
| 10 | Planet | Column 4, Row 2 (same button as press 3) |
| 11 | Dog | Column 1, Row 1 |
| 12 | Monument | Column 4, Row 3 |
A wrong press wipes the sequence — but the door resets instantly, so a mistake costs seconds, not the run. No numeric button-numbering is printed here on purpose: the numbers some guides attach to these buttons are their own labels, not game UI.
Step 4 — the Strange Access Card
The card sits beside that same hotel door, in the corner by the elephant statue. It is inert in Part 2 — pick it up, keep it, and ignore it until the endgame.
Steps 5 and 6 — Strange Books #2 and #3
| Book | Where | On-screen title |
|---|---|---|
| #2 | Part 4 — Stenhouse End of Life Hospice Care store, Atlas Square southwest, opposite the phone booth; left shelf inside the door | “Freeze Me / Wake Me – Elias Fisher” |
| #3 | Part 6 — room 621, on the table beside the Resource Container, across from Valve F | “A Map of Nowhere Else” |
Book #3’s room is on the same SWDP floor you already visit for the Remote Systems puzzle — grab it during that loop rather than backtracking.
Step 7 — swipe the card
Finish the clamp release and turn the red valve wheel (clamp release puzzle). Past the forced-open shutter, head down the hallway toward where Simon pulls out his cannula — a card reader on the left wall by the last sealed door. Swipe the card: it turns green and reads “I feel sluggish. Like I need to wake up.” A black-and-white cutscene plays and the game ends early — the final boss is skipped entirely.
What the ending gives — and what it costs
- Sci-fi-lent Hill trophy (Silver).
- The Pistol-3000 unlock is banked — later NG+ runs can pick it up (location guide).
- The cost: skipping the boss means no boss trophy on this run. The planning advice both sources give: do Sci-fi first, then reload into Dog/Justice plans (endings hub has the run-order notes).
What this page rests on
AllThings. How’s all-endings guide read in full on 2026-09-24 is the step-source (books, door, card, trigger). PowerPyx’s endings guide (read in full, 2026-09-24) independently matches all twelve symbols in order — that two-publisher agreement on the full sequence earns the press table above, and the earlier symbol-vs-number conflict stays retired: this page prints symbols + grid positions only. Source_checked, no ending was triggered on this site, and the dog-statue/Comic details are quoted as AllThings. How reports them.
