SILENT HILL: Townfall Abandoned Ending Guide
How to aim for the Abandoned ending, what early guides said about kills, why the 60-kill lock is disputed, and how to plan a save.

Answer: Community-reported Abandoned score: below 0; not independently reproduced here
Requirements
- Earlier guides recommend a kill-heavy run; do not treat total kills minus Discoveries as an exact score
- ShowGamer reports a 60-kill automatic lock, but later player results and game-data reports dispute it
- A lower Discovery total, more qualifying Simon kills, Cannula refills or Zoe treatment mistakes may lower the reported score
- Playable on a first playthrough or NG+; no unique items or questline involved
- Bank an earlier save; a final-area save cannot undo earlier actions

Source update: 28 September
PowerPyx’s current guide now adopts the weighted-score explanation and credits CrazyDude1994 / CrazySerega. Its publication of the finding is not an independent reproduction. Earlier balance advice below is retained as historical context, not the guide’s current position.
What does the original research say about exactly 20?
The original blueprint-analysis post explicitly reports Justice at 20 or more, Forever at 0–19, and Abandoned below 0. Under that proposed rule, exactly 20 belongs to Justice. PowerPyx uses “over 20” alongside “0–19”; that wording leaves a gap which the original author’s account does not.
These are reported community thresholds, not an official specification or an outcome independently reproduced by this site. The proposed score is Discoveries minus 2 per qualifying Simon kill, 4 per Cannula refill and 3 per Zoe treatment mistake. The postgame total-kills figure cannot be substituted for the qualifying-kill count. Keep an earlier save for an ordinary ending attempt; skip manual saves on a Reject The Help run.
Quick requirements
Abandoned is the lower-score main ending, available on a first run or NG+. Early guides describe it as the kill-heavy outcome. That direction is useful for planning, but more total kills than Discoveries and 60 total kills are not certified triggers. Do not sacrifice a collectible run on the assumption that either number guarantees the result.
What the older guides report
- ShowGamer reports an Abandoned run with 74 kills and claims that passing 60 kills locks this ending regardless of Discoveries.
- PowerPyx originally described kills above Discoveries as making Abandoned effectively likely when checked on 24 September. It has since adopted the weighted-score account described above.
Those are guide accounts, not a verified game constant. Later player reports challenge both the simple difference and the 60-kill claim.
What newer player research suggests
A mod author’s save-data analysis and a separate player blueprint analysis report a weighted ending score. They identify Discoveries as a positive factor and qualifying Simon kills, Cannula refills and Zoe’s treatment mistakes as negative factors. The postgame kill total may include kills that the proposed ending calculation does not count.
The research is not an official explanation or a controlled playthrough by this site. Its exact weights, counted enemy types and thresholds are reported findings, not rules we can guarantee here. It does, however, make a flat 60-total-kill lock unsafe advice.
Planning an Abandoned run
- Keep a manual save before branching into ending attempts. Skip this strategy during Reject The Help.
- If you are pursuing Abandoned deliberately, a combat-heavy route is the older guides’ recommendation. Do not rely on Richard’s section or the postgame kill total alone; the newer analysis disputes their use as an ending-score proxy.
- Trigger an ending and record the result. If it is Justice or Forever, an earlier checkpoint gives you more room to adjust the run than a save immediately before the final boss.
You can still collect items and earn collection trophies in the same run. The sources do not establish a universal Discovery amount that prevents Abandoned; treat the ending and collection goals as separate until the score is independently verified.
Trophy / achievement
Abandoned awards Just Making Things Worse (Gold) on PlayStation. ShowGamer calls it “It Only Gets Worse”; the trophy goal map uses the PlayStation name.
Evidence and limits
The early ShowGamer and PowerPyx guides describe a kill-heavy direction. The later player file findings challenge their use as exact rules. This page remains source_checked: no Abandoned outcome was triggered or controlled by this site’s editor, and no 60-kill automatic lock is asserted.
